The treatment, with the Ulthera system, uses high intensity microfocused ultrasound to stimulate the body in renewing and replacing existing collagen under the skin. The end result is a firmer, more toned and visibly tightened skin tone around the face and neck areas.
Ulthera bypasses a person’s superficial skin and delivers only the optimal amount of ultrasound energy to deep tissues; the very same tissues that are targeted in surgical/invasive facelift procedures. The ultrasound is meticulously controlled to reach only the correct depths and heat levels.
At the optimal temperature of approximately 60-70°C, regeneration of new collagen levels is stimulated without incision or disruption to skin surface. The process is the body’s natural response to the heat.

Lasers mainly target the superficial areas of the skin, e.g. on the surface where lines, wrinkles and pigmentation are most prominent. The surface of the skin is first thoroughly cleansed. Anesthesia cream is then applied on the areas where ultherapy ultrasound is to be applied. Once this is done, the ultrasound device is turned on to supply controlled heat to pre-marked areas of the neck and face. The heat supplied gradually and gently stimulates the deep tissues of the skin to generate new levels of collagen. Last but not least, a gentle light treatment is done to facilitate the healing process of the skin.
Typically, Ultherapy for the entire face and neck area may take approximately 45-60 minutes. Ultherapy for specific portions of the face and neck may range from 30 – 45 minutes.
Ultherapy treatment is very tolerable. One may experience mild levels of discomfort during application of ultrasound energy. This is, however, only a sign that the collagen stimulation process has started. There may be low levels of discomfort or aching sensation around the targeted area after treatment. This is expected to resolve within 7-14 days.
There is no downtime when doing a non-invasive and non-surgical Ultherapy treatment. Clients typically may go back to their daily routine as soon as the treatment has ended.
There may be mild redness around the treatment area. This, however, tends to resolve quickly as well.

If you are expecting such a treatment, consider avoiding sun exposure at least 2 weeks prior to the treatment. Avoid using acne cream or similar skincare products at least 3 days before your treatment.
