AceShowbiz - Sinead O'Connor has sadly passed away. The "Nothing Compares 2 U" songstress died at the age of 56 on Wednesday, July 26, just days after she let out a tweet mourning her late son, Nevi'im Nesta Ali Shane O'Connor.
Confirming the singer's death was her family, who said in a statement to RTE, It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinead." They added, "Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time."
The details surrounding Sinead's death have yet to be revealed. However, it came more than a week after she let out a heartbreaking post about her son, who died by suicide at 17 in 2022.
"Been living as undead night creature since. He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul," Sinead penned on July 17 on a now-deleted Twitter account, according to PEOPLE. "We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him."
Sinead previously sparked concerns among fans as she let out some alarming tweets in the wake of her son's passing. "I've decided to follow my son. There is no point living without him," she said at that time. "Everything I touch, I ruin. I only stayed for him. And now he's gone."
However, Sinead later apologized to her online devotees. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I am with cops now on way to hospital. I'm sorry I upset everyone," she noted. "I am lost without my kid and I hate myself. Hospital will help a while. But I'm going to find Shane. This is just a delay."
